North Korea promises ‘transparency’ on plans to develop sensitive space program

DPRK official tells UN committee that Pyongyang ‘will make steady efforts for outer space development’

North Korea is openly talking about developing its sensitive space exploration projects and promising to be transparent about it on the world stage, according to a recent DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.

North Korea toned down open promotion of its space endeavors around the time it started negotiations with the U.S. and South Korea in early 2018. Washington has long argued that Pyongyang uses its space program as a front for long-range nuclear weapons development.
