North Korea finally opened what is supposedly the country’s most modern medical equipment factory over the weekend — nine months after Kim Jong Un’s deadline passed.

State media reported on Monday that an opening ceremony for the Myohyangsan Medical Appliances Factory was held on Sunday, Oct. 4, though Kim Jong Un reportedly did not attend. 

During his last known visit to the factory in late Oct. 2019, Kim criticized the quality of construction and said he’d send higher-skilled workers to “complete it to be flawless and functional by the end of this year.”
