North Korea marks low-key founding anniversary with foreign ambassador meeting

The Russian and Palestinian ambassadors met foreign minister Ri Son Gwon to congratulate the DPRK on its 72nd birthday

North Korea’s foreign minister Ri Son Gwon met the Russian and Palestinian ambassadors to the DPRK on Tuesday, while state media coverage on Wednesday focused more on recent typhoon damage than its 72nd founding anniversary.

A Facebook post from the Russian Embassy in the DPRK shows Ri, Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Matsegora and the Palestinian Ambassador Ismail Ahmed Mohamed Hassan all sitting in the same room with their face masks off.
