Kim Jong Un: ‘Hypersensitive’ US military actions contributed to failed talks

Momentum to restore leader-to-leader rapport was set back after June 2019 Panmunjeom meeting, Kim suggests

"Paranoid and hypersensitive" actions by the U.S. military were partly why working-level denuclearization talks never got off the ground in summer 2019, Kim Jong Un wrote to Donald Trump on Aug. 5, 2019, according to text seen by NK News from one of his letters in Bob Woodward's new book 'Rage.'

While the two leaders committed in June 2019 to restart dialogue after an unexpected meeting at Panmunjeom, Kim later told Trump he assumed joint military exercises would have been "canceled or postponed ahead of our two countries’ working-level negotiations."
