North Korea did not appear on the agenda during the four-day-long U.S. Republican National Convention (RNC), which came to a close on Thursday after confirming Trump as the party’s nominee.

In fact, Trump did not mention the DPRK at all during his Aug. 27 speech at the RNC. His only mention of the Korean peninsula was a one-liner about Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden “[backing] the horrendous South Korea trade deal.”

In general, the 2020 RNC made very little mentionof foreign policy at all, but Trump’s sudden lack of interest in the DPRK may not bode well for progress on
