U.S. and South Korean defense ministers discussed pending military issues such as joint drills and defense cost-sharing negotiations over the phone on Tuesday, Seoul's Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated.

The two sides, however, apparently failed to come up with an agreement on the timing and scale of the next U.S.-ROK combined Command Post Exercise (CPX), which is normally held in August.
