North Korea has appointed a new vice foreign minister, a social media post by the Indian embassy in Pyongyang revealed on Thursday.

The new appointee — Pak Myong Ho — was reported to have met with Indian Ambassador to North Korea Atul M. Gotsurve in a tweet from the embassy.

It’s unclear when precisely Pak’s promotion took place: Thursday’s statement is the first time he has been named in that position. 

He previously served as the number two diplomat in North Korea’s embassy in Beijing under Ambassador Ji Jae Ryong since at least 2010, according to North Korean state media.
