Trump’s legal team points to Korea policy in impeachment trial defense memo

Trump's defense cites "fresh" DPRK policy, compares cost-sharing negotiations with Seoul to withheld Ukrainian aid

With the U.S. Senate's impeachment trial of President Donald Trump set to begin in earnest on Tuesday, the president's legal team cited Trump's Korea policy -- for both the North and South -- as a defense against his conviction and removal from office.

The arguments, which were among dozens in a 171-page legal memorandum released by the White House on Monday afternoon in Washington, directly compared Trump's Ukraine policy, which is at the heart of the scandal that led to his impeachment, to his dealings with Seoul and Pyongyang.
