Vietnam in compliance with UN sanctions on N. Korean workers abroad, gov’t says

Over half of workers sent home since 2017 as Hanoi promises to repatriate remainder this year

More than half of the North Korean laborers at work in Vietnam have been sent home since UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions requiring their repatriation were passed in late 2017, Hanoi said in a recent implementation report to the UN.

Of the 94 in the country at the time UNSC Resolution 2397 was passed in December 2017, 51 had been repatriated by "early 2019," the report -- dated June 25 but uploaded over the weekend -- said.
