Pompeo says U.S. should keep “a little space” in North Korea sanctions regime

U.S. Secretary of State also defends Washington's current approach to sanctions and enforcement

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday indicated that Washington could leave room in its sanctions regime to help the diplomatic process with North Korea.

Speaking at a U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing covering the review of the State Department's 2020 budget request, Pompeo indicated he wanted some discretion on implementing U.S. sanctions.
