Over a year-and-a-half on, no State Department envoy on N. Korean human rights

U.S. law means position may soon have to be filled, however

Over a year and a half after the retirement of the second United States Special Envoy on North Korean Human Rights, there remains no top State Department charged with the North Korea human rights portfolio.

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson eliminated the position of Special Envoy last summer and instructed its responsibilities be assumed by another still-vacant undersecretary position, just months after the most recent Special Envoy, Robert King, retired from the post.
