News North Korea domestically producing new TVs, curved LCD screens: KCTVFactory workers claim dependence on foreign technology had been "hurting self-esteem"
North Korean state media on Wednesday claimed that the country is now able to domestically produce curved-screen LCD TVs. The Potonggang factory in Pyongyang is now producing 20 new electrical products, including TVs, laptops, and desktop computers, the Korean Central Television (KCTV) reported. Using TVs with foreign-made LCD screens had been “hurting self-esteem,” Lim Bong Hyuk, the head of the factory, says in the report. As a result, the factory was reportedly reconstructed and hired graduate technicians, with the goal of removing the country’s dependence on imported TVs. Developing the screens was a challenge, Pak Chol Hwan, an executive at the © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
