U.S. requests blacklisting of ten ships for transporting from N. Korea

Vessels named in proposal accused of evading sanctions by "illegal ship-to-ship transfers"

The U.S. plans to propose that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) 1718 Committee for designations blacklist 10 ships which frequently visit Russia, Japan, and China’s ports around the Korean peninsula for transporting banned items from North Korea, according to sources and news reports.

The U.S. has given China a draft proposal detailing the issue and is hoping for a quick vote on it by the UNSC, South China Morning Post reported Tuesday, quoting an anonymous Western diplomat.
