Lawmakers from South Korea’s National Assembly will propose a resolution urging Seoul and Pyongyang to agree on meetings in August between families separated by the Korean War, a spokesperson told NK News on Monday.

The resolution, its supporters hope, will pass the National Assembly at the end of the month, the spokesperson said.

“During a meeting today, Chung Sye-kyun, the Chairman of the National Assembly, proposed a resolution urging meetings of separated families,” Kim Young-soo, a spokesperson for the National Assembly, told NK News.

“A meeting of separated families is an urgent and humanitarian matter, the Chairman said.”
