A woman from Pyongyang who insists she arrived in South Korea by mistake said she attempted to apply for asylum to the Vietnamese embassy in Seoul earlier this week.
Kim Ryon Hui, a North Korean who arrived in Seoul in 2011, applied for political asylum on Tuesday at the Vietnamese embassy in Seoul in order to return to the North. According to Kim, the embassy's secretary called the police to escort her out.
