Scholar suggests Japan files annual resolution with EU to boost own diplomatic profile

The Japanese government and European Union filed a resolution on Wednesday with the UN Human Rights Council (OHCHR) criticizing North Korea's human rights climate.

The resolution calls for returning abducted Japanese abduction victims, shutting down prison camps and releasing prisoners, as well as establishing a special team of experts within the Council to seek possible measures to hold the North Korean regime criminally liable for human rights violations, Kyodo News reported.
