N. Korea develops new small scale wind turbines

Low power turbines are for installation on public buildings and apartment balconies

North Korea has manufactured new small scale wind turbines which produce between 100 and 300 watts of power, according to a recent article in DPRK news outlet the Pyongyang Times.

The newly developed turbine is supposedly for use on public buildings and balconies of multi-story flats.

“Its utilization rate of wind is over two times as high as that of the three-bladed turbine, so it can be set up everywhere—both seaside and inland where the wind blows above two metres per second,” the article reads.

The report also claims the new turbine, which is produced by the Aeguk Magnet Factory,
