N. Korean ambassador asks Thailand to open Pyonyang embassy

DPRK hopes the move would help increase economic ties between the two countries

The North Korean ambassador to Thailand last week asked the Thai authorities to set up an embassy in Pyongyang, according to the Bangkok post.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam announced the news after speaking to ambassador Mun, who said the opening on an embassy would mark four decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries and would help strengthen economic ties. The Thai Deputy PM stopped short of fully committing to the idea however.
