South Korea proposes high level talks with North Korea

Unification minister hopes talks can focus on reuniting families separated by the Korean war

South Korea on Monday proposed the resumption of high level talks on a range of issues with the DPRK in January.

Speaking at a press conference in Seoul, South Korean Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl Jae said he wanted to discuss reuniting families separated by the Korean War.

“North and South Korea should meet face to face to draw up a plan for a peaceful unification,” Mr Ryoo said at the press conference.

“The Presidential Committee for Unification Preparation officially proposed talks on issues of mutual interest between South and North Korea. We hope to heal the wounds of war-separated families
