A cargo vessel that left the North Korean port of Rajin delivered 40,500 tons of Russian coal to the South Korean port of Pohang on Saturday, completing the trial run of trilateral logistics project between the three countries.

The coal delivery – valued at around 4 million U.S. dollars – is part of President Park’s wider Eurasia Initiative, which could link South Korea to Europe and improve trade access to the peninsula via North Korea.

“It is meaningful to lay the foundation for realizing the Eurasia Initiative, peace in Northeast Asia and the renovation of our economy,” Unification Ministry spokesperson
