N. Korea sent Merrill Newman $3,241 bill for 42 day detention

Itemized bill included accommodation, meals and even a fee for a lost plate

North Korean authorities sent Merril Newman, a U.S. citizen imprisoned in the DPRK in late 2013, a bill for his detention totaling more than $3,000, according to a recently released e-book which details his time in captivity.

The 86 year old Korean War veteran was arrested in November last year after visiting the DPRK as a tourist and was held for more than six weeks in Pyongyang’s Yanggakdo Hotel.
