Kim Jong Un has said that North Korea should aim to “gain international supremacy in the fruit sector”, according to party organ, The Rodong Sinmun. Addressing North Korean fruit producers and agricultural scientists this week, Kim argued this could be achieved by raising the country’s maximum yield fourfold. The article went on to say that North Korean agricultural scientists in the fruit sector have “increased high-quality domestic pesticide production at lower manufacturing costs”, adding that they are producing 400 tons of organic fertilizer per month.
