A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the British Council and the DPRK Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, designed to expand cultural exchanges between the two countries.

It is hoped that the memorandum, while containing little in the way of specifics, will lead to expanded interactions between the two countries, particularly in the arts and in education.

Its signing took place during the official opening of an exhibition at the British Council, entitled Above the Line, of photography taken in North Korea by the photojournalist Nick Danziger.
