Last year, John Sweeney, then a broadcast journalist for the investigative programme “Panorama”, entered North Korea with his camera crew  to expose a version of North Korea usually shielded from the outside world.

A year after his controversial visit, the NK News podcast interviewed Sweeney on the subject of the resulting TV episode and book, “North Korea Undercover”, with focus on the journalist’s motives as a “warrior for the open society”.

Sweeney gained entrance into DPRK while posing as a professor of the London School of Economics, causing critics to balk at BBC’s negligence for the safety
