U.S. House committee votes to toughen sanctions

Bill would blacklist suspected human rights offenders, seek to label North a money-laundering concern

The U.S. House of Representatives committee with jurisdiction over American foreign relations has passed a bill toughening sanctions on North Korea.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee will target the regime’s money laundering and its human rights infringements by blacklisting officials believed to be involved in human rights violations and asking the U.S. Department of the Treasury a money-laundering concern.
