North Korea has developed an updated version of the KN-01 Missile with a range of 180~300km, an unnamed government source told South Korean daily Chosun Ilbo on Friday.

The range of the anti-ship KN-01 Missile was originally thought to be up to 160km, but the source said that it had been extended by improving the Chinese Silkworm Anti-Ship Missile with a further range of 85~100km.

“In this particular case, the range is extended by equipping a turbojet engine, which suggests that North Korea is now able to build low thrust jet engines,” Hyunho Choi, military analyst and the Survey Chief
