Improving the quality of life for DPRK citizens was a major theme in this week's domestic media. Extensive coverage was given to development stories that featured new homes or renovation projects to improve the livelihood of everyday citizens. This week, North Korean media also launched a campaign harshly criticizing Park Geun Hye after she commented that the North Korean government should abandon its nuclear program. North Koreans also celebrated the 16th anniversary of Kim Jong Il's appointment as general secretary to the Workers' Party of Korea.
