North Korean Youths Visit Chinese University; High-ranking KPA Officers Gather in Pyongyang; Irrigation Institute Marks its 60th Anniversary

There were a few interesting events that transpired this week in North Korea. The first story in this week’s media review could be seen as an example of strong Sino-North Korean ties, as young North Koreans traveled to North China. The second story regards a curious gathering of KPA commanders and commissars in Pyongyang, of which the last meeting of this type was held in 1999 and 2000; with the two officer classes being separated. The final story in this week’s review notes the 60th anniversary of North Korea’s Irrigation Institute.
