Five years left to solve the North Korea nuclear issue

Veteran North Korea watcher says int’l community has five years to resolve problems

Veteran journalist and North Korea watcher Sohn Kwang joo feels that the best way for dealing with the North Korean nuclear program is through a return to the Six-Party Talks, but that the window of opportunity is closing.

But in the second part of a wide-ranging interview with NK News, he warns that even this process is no guarantee of success. Still, he feels that the international community’s window of opportunity for denuclearization and the establishment of a system for reunification is in the next five years, while the North’s leader Kim Jong Un is still establishing his leadership abilities.
