Russia to bankroll $730K in training fees for North Korean first responders

From 2027-2031, Russia will cover the bill for rescue training in areas like drones and mountainous operations

Russia has agreed to finance training programs for North Korean first responders in Vladivostok for the next five years, according to a government decree, following an agreement last year to exchange drone and rescue tactics.

The Russian government instructed the Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) to organize the “training of specialists from the national emergency service of the DPRK at the Far Eastern Fire and Rescue Academy” in Vladivostok, according to a decree signed by Russian Premier Mishustin on Sept. 30.

EMERCOM is expected to bankroll the $734,255 (61.5 million rubles) program over the next five years.
