North Korea and Russia have signed a deal to mutually recognize university degrees in a bid to boost academic exchanges, according to Moscow, alongside a series of cooperation agreements reached between Russian and DPRK universities in Pyongyang.

The agreement was signed during the second Forum of University Rectors in Pyongyang on Tuesday, Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education announced in a press release.

The new “intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of education, qualifications and academic degrees” is intended to support “academic mobility” between the two countries, according to the ministry.
