South Korean and U.N. Command (UNC) investigators on Tuesday discovered a North Korean plastic anti-personnel mine near the site of a blast that seriously injured three soldiers in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) last week.

The mine was found during a joint on-site investigation involving about 30 personnel, including ROK military personnel, UNC Military Armistice Commission officials and investigators, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a press release.

Some officers who participated in the original operation on Sept. 21, the day of the explosion, also joined the investigation, according to the press release.
