North Korean media this week has promoted a sweeping revision to traffic laws that bans smoking while driving, jaywalking and walking pets without a collar, hinting at growing problems due to a boom in private car ownership and electric bicycles.

The state-run Korean Central Television (KCTV) aired a two-episode segment on the Road Traffic Law during its ongoing “Law and Citizens” (법과 공민) program, featuring a broadcaster and Kim Il Sung University law researcher Rim Myong Hak.
