A pro-North Korea organization of ethnic Koreans in Japan has removed references to unification from its charter, appearing to belatedly reflect Kim Jong Un’s declaration that the two Koreas are separate states.

The General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, better known as Chongryon, held its 26th General Assembly in Tokyo over the weekend, according to a Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) report on Tuesday.

During this year’s congress, Chongryon discussed its direction through 2035, vowing to carry out “ethnic education programs and nurture new generations.” The association’s chief Ho Jong Man was reelected at 91 years old.
