The leaders of South Korea and Japan discussed efforts to restore peace on the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday in a summit that primarily focused on energy supply concerns stemming from the Strait of Hormuz blockade.

During a press conference after their summit in South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s hometown of Andong, Lee and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi stressed the need for continued bilateral cooperation — alongside coordination with the United States — to preserve regional peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
