News Kim Jong Un donates $2M to educate pro-North Korea youth in JapanState media reports a roughly 10% increase from last year amid push to promote loyalty of next generation
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has sent nearly $2 million to a pro-DPRK organization in Japan, an annual donation made to support youth education ahead of the country’s most important holiday. State media reported on Tuesday that Kim sent 316 million yen (about $1,993,000) to the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, also known as Chongryon, to commemorate DPRK founding leader Kim Il Sung’s 114th birth anniversary. The amount marks a roughly 10% increase from the 287 million yen donation a year earlier. The donation supports what Pyongyang described as “the democratic national education” of Chongryon students. © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
