Russia’s emergency response ministry has agreed to train North Korean partners in drone technology and rescue operations free of charge.

The two sides signed a “memorandum on specialist training and scientific and technical cooperation” following a meeting between Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) Deputy Minister Roman Kurynin and a DPRK Disaster Prevention Ministry delegation led by Vice Minister Ri Ki Chol, EMERCOM said in a press release late Monday.

The ministry did not state when the meeting took place but released photos of the talks and of Ri’s delegation visiting a monument to emergency responders in Moscow.
