UNICEF delivers 2.7M vaccines to North Korea, restoring immunization services

Aid agency reports three shipments this year and two more planned as part of push to address pandemic disruptions

UNICEF has delivered some 2.72 million vaccine doses to North Korea this year, restoring immunization services that were disrupted during the pandemic.

Chiara Frisone, a spokesperson for UNICEF East Asia and Pacific, told NK News that three chartered flights transported the vaccines in January, March and May and that nationwide immunization services are now fully operational once again.

Frisone said the flights carried around 1.57 million Pentavalent (Penta) doses, 678,000 Measles-Rubella (MR) doses and nearly 469,000 Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) doses, adding that two more flights are planned for later this year.
