UNESCO has inscribed North Korea’s Mount Kumgang, a mountain renowned on both halves of the Korean Peninsula, as a new World Heritage site for its scenic beauty as well as cultural significance.

The U.N. body announced the addition of the mountain to its list of significant cultural and natural sites worldwide on Sunday, during the ongoing 47th session of the World Heritage Committee, under the name “Mt. Kumgang — Diamond Mountain from the Sea.”
