North Korea nabs bronze medals in diving and wrestling; Olympic tally up to 5

Kim Mi Rae becomes DPRK’s first double medalist in Paris, as Ri Se Ung wins country’s first wrestling medal in 12 years

North Korea added two bronze medals in diving and wrestling at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, finding success in new and old areas of strength as it brought its medal tally to five at these Games.

Fresh from winning North Korea’s first-ever diving medal alongside Jo Jin Mi last Wednesday, Kim Mi Rae once again made history by earning North Korea’s first solo diving medal with a third-place finish in the 10-meter platform individual event.

The 23-year-old burst into tears after becoming North Korea’s only double medalist at the ongoing Games and dedicated her medal to her compatriots back home.
