Iran has dismissed speculation that a North Korean delegation traveled to the country to discuss military cooperation, stating the visit was purely for business opportunities. 

Foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani blasted “biased speculations” about the purpose of the North Korean visit as “untrue and baseless” during a press conference on Monday, according to the Iran state-run Student News Network. 

He said the North Korean delegation, the first to visit the country in five years, had been invited to attend the Sixth Export Potential Exhibition being held in Tehran from April 27 to May 1.

Kanani added during the press
