The South Korean Embassy in Beijing has warned ROK nationals not to visit North Korean restaurants in China, citing the potential for conflict with staff.

In a statement released last Friday, the embassy’s consular department explained that DPRK-run restaurants do not allow South Koreans to visit and have “forcibly expelled them from the premises upon identification.”

The embassy called on both South Korean residents and visitors in China to “refrain from entering these establishments” to guarantee their “personal safety” and eliminate the possibility of “friction” between guests and North Korean staff.
