South Korea partially suspends North Korea military deal after satellite launch

Cabinet approved decision on 2018 agreement shortly after DPRK claimed it put military spy satellite in orbit

South Korea announced the partial suspension of a landmark inter-Korean military agreement on Wednesday, hours after North Korea said it “successfully” placed a spy satellite in orbit.

President Yoon Suk-yeol remotely chaired an emergency National Security Council (NSC) meeting early Wednesday, and the cabinet backed the partial suspension of the 2018 Comprehensive Military Agreement (CMA), the prime minister’s office said in a press release.
