A prominent North Korean threat group targeted former South Korean high-level officials and over 100 other security experts, police announced Wednesday, as Pyongyang increases efforts to steal sensitive information from experts and journalists. 

Kimsuky induced experts to access a phishing site by pretending to be unification and security experts or journalists, South Korea’s national police agency said in a press release.

The announcement comes less than a week after the ROK foreign ministry imposed unilateral sanctions against the state-backed group, alleging it stole data that helped the regime develop a new military spy satellite.
