News Bill on reuniting families separated by Korean War passes US Congress committeeThe bill would require U.S. State Department to report on talks with South Korean officials and Korean American families
A bill requiring the U.S. State Department to report to Congress on reunions of families separated by the Korean War is now one step closer to becoming law after passing a House committee. On Wednesday, the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs passed the Divided Families Reunification Act, reintroduced by New York Representative Grace Meng after it failed to pass a vote in the Senate at the end of the previous Congress. If signed into law, the bill will legally require the U.S. State Department to report to Congress on consultations with South Korean officials and Korean American families © Korea Risk Group.
