A North Korean citizen was recently detained at Vladivostok International Airport in possession of USD$192,300 and 1000 euros in undeclared cash, local customs authorities said in a statement issued to press on Monday.

The man was stopped for questioning by customs officials on his way to board a flight to Pyongyang, authorities said.

“During an unofficial interrogation, the man stated that he had with him undeclared funds and presented them for customs inspection,” the statement said. “The currency was packed in a shoe box that was in a leather bag.”

The money represents over 19 times the legal limit for undeclared cash going
