Thursday will see Seoul extend the operations of a key inter-Korean cooperation organ – an organization with a remit to prepare for the resumption of work at the now-shuttered Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) – by one year.

The Inter-Korean Cooperation District Policy Planning Directorate was temporarily set up with a two-year term in October 2013 to replace the now-defunct Inter-Korean Cooperation District Support Directorate.

Its predecessor was established to support the development and management of inter-Korean cooperation zones, including the KIC.
