An upcoming summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump could bring a “permanent” end to hostilities between Washington and Pyongyang, a prominent Tokyo-based pro-Pyongyang newspaper reported on Thursday.

The report comes amid radio silence from North Korean state media on the planned summit between Kim and Trump, and was carried by the Choson Sinbo, an organ of Central Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

The publication does not represent the views of the North Korean government, though its membership is pro-DPRK and frequently visits the country.
