A North Korean defector has been arrested and charged with sending 130 tons of rice to the DPRK’s secret police, the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to NK News on Monday.

The 49-year-old woman, who has only been named as “Mrs A,” has been charged with violating the National Security Act in sending 130 tons of rice — worth around KRW 105 million (USD$140,410) — to the DPRK Ministry of State Security (MSS) last year.

She reportedly sent two shipments of 65 tons to the MSS via a Chinese broker.
