St Kitts and Nevis deregisters sanctioned North Korean ship

The Hao Fan 6 was designated by the UNSC for carrying prohibited cargos

A recently sanctioned North Korean vessel has been removed from the St Kitts and Nevis shipping registry following its designation by the UN Security Council (UNSC) earlier in October, according to Hellenic Shipping News.

The Hao Fan 6 was blacklisted by the UN for carrying items prohibited by the international body’s resolutions.

International law requires merchant ships be registered with a country and have a “flag state” in order to sail internationally.

“The St Kitts International Ship Registry has and continues to take the necessary measures to deregister vessels from the registry should information be brought to our attention
